Normally, the Global Center on Adaptation is only housed on the top floor of The Floating Office in Rotterdam, but for this event, the entire building briefly became the stage for the African Climate Adaptation Summit 2022. The day featured several African presidents and dignitaries from Africa and Europe.
Commissioned by Pino and in cooperation with Smile light and sound and Jacot audiovisual, we took care of the entire broadcasting of the event. Among other things, we ensured that all dignitaries who called in as remote guests during the program could be seen both live in the hall and on the stream.
English and French speakers were watching the stream of the event and many French-speaking guests were also present. We provided translations for the stream and made sure that the translations could be heard on headsets of the guests in the room.
Outside the GCA office, the press center was set up. From here, several important guests took turns speaking to the press. These press conferences also had to be seen in the stream, which is why we had set up a set of three cameras and a small control room here. This control unit was connected by fiber to the main control unit on the second floor of the office. This allowed the press conference to be translated simultaneously and broadcast directly, and it was possible for the press to ask questions live to the guests in the room. Conversely, in the press center, this made all video lines from the room upstairs available.
There was also a demand from stakeholders and the press to be able to publish instant video and audio footage of quotes from the speakers throughout the event. To provide them with this, we made sure that a new part of the live broadcast could be downloaded every ten minutes.
